Today through tonight: Dry and seasonably cool weather is expected to continue for the forecast area in the near term. A longwave trough over the central/eastern CONUS will maintain cool/dry northwest flow aloft and a continental polar airmass at the surface. After a freezing start to the morning, sunny skies will allow temperatures to rebound well into the 50s to lower 60s this afternoon across the area. And with surface high pressure centered over the southeast CONUS tonight, we should see temperatures fall back to near or just below freezing. /EC/
Tuesday through Sunday night: Surface high pressure will continue on Tuesday, with highs in the upper 50s. Little will change on Wednesday and Thursday with slightly warmer temperatures. Highs on Wednesday will be around 60 and in the low 60s by Thursday.
Expect one more dry day on Friday, but changes look on tap for the weekend. Both the GFS/ECMWF have similar solutions over the weekend, as they develop a Cut-off low and move it south of the area. The movement of the low will dictate our rain chances through the weekend. /15/
