Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tucson AZ 231 AM MST Sat Dec 2 2023

SYNOPSIS
Cold overnight temperatures this weekend into Monday.
It will be dry next week and becoming much warmer by midweek.

DISCUSSION
Main weather concern this morning will be areal coverage of dense fog with near surface environment rather moist after yesterdays widespread rainfall. As of this writing, a few spots like Douglas airport (KDUG) has recorded dense fog, <1/4 mile visibility, already this morning. Still some residual low level clouds over eastern zones that will inhibit any fog development. Will continue to monitor obs and satellite in case a fog product needs to be issued. On the temperature side, cold air mass in the wake of yesterdays system will bring colder low temperatures with Sunday morning several degrees colder than this morning.

The story of next week will be much warmer daytime temperatures with upper 70s to lower 80s returning to the low deserts. Still some uncertainty in the ensemble world on pattern change next weekend.

AVIATION
Valid through 03/12z.
Areas of MVFR clouds and fog with vsbys below 1 miles, psbly down to 1/4 mile thru 02/16z. Otherwise SKC to SCT clouds AOA 20k ft thru valid pd. SFC winds terrain driven less than 10 kts thru 02/18z and then again aft 03/04z. At other times, SFC winds NWLY 5-10 kts. Aviation discussion not updated for TAF amendments.

FIRE WEATHER
Dry and cool weekend in the wake of yesterdays weather system. Dry conditions will continue through the new work week with temperature becoming much warmer. Winds generally light, less than 15 mph sustained, with a bit of afternoon gustiness at times well into next week.

TWC WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES
None.
