Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tucson AZ 158 AM MST Mon Apr 21 2025

SYNOPSIS
Dry and warm weather with some afternoon breezes and occasional high clouds will dominate our weather this week.

DISCUSSION
Mostly clear skies across SE Arizona this morning with just some thin cirroform cloudiness pushing through. The weather pattern this week will be dominated by dry west to southwesterly flow aloft. Temperatures will be quite persistent through the week as highs in Tucson and points westward will be near 90 degrees each day or about 5 degrees above normal. For higher elevation valleys south and east of Tucson, high temperatures will be in the 80s.
While April is our windiest month, winds will overall be in check this week with just some afternoon breezes/gustiness to around 20-25 mph. As some troughiness approaches over the weekend, that will help kick up winds a bit more due to a tighter pressure gradient with a few degrees of cooling as well.

AVIATION
Valid through 23/12Z. SKC-SCT AOA 20K ft AGL through the valid forecast period. SFC winds variable and less than 10 kts this morning, then becoming around 10 kts SWLY 10-15 kts aft 21/18Z through 22/02Z before becoming variable again. Aviation discussion not updated for TAF amendments.

FIRE WEATHER
Warmer and drier weather with highs roughly 4-7 degrees above normal, periods of high clouds and breezy afternoons return this week. Local winds gusts around 20 mph each afternoon through the work wee. An approaching weather system this weekend will result in some increased breezes. Min RH values will be in the single digits in the lower elevations and teens in the mountains with poor overnight recoveries through the forecast period.

TWC WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES
None.
