SYNOPSIS
High pressure settles into the region this week. This will result in dry conditions and high temperatures warming to above normal levels through this week.

DISCUSSION
High pressure will continue to build over the region this week, resulting in dry and warmer conditions. Starting tomorrow, temperatures will trend 10 to 15 degrees above seasonal normals and peaking by the weekend. Tucson has a shot of reaching its record on Friday, December 12, 79 degrees (2004).

Looking ahead, welp...more warm and dry conditions continue into the new week. Climate Prediction Center 8-14 Day Outlooks has Southeast Arizona likely below normal precipitation (40-60% below)
and likely above normal temperatures (80%+ above). A warm and dry December.



AVIATION

SKC. SFC winds winds WLY/NWLY 8-12 kts in the afternoon period and light and variable in the overnight hours. Aviation discussion not updated for TAF amendments.



FIRE WEATHER
Dry conditions are expected the next 7 days. A warming trend continues through the week where highs after Tuesday will run 8 to 15 degrees above normal. 20-foot winds will generally be 15 mph or less and terrain driven throughout the week. Minimum RH values in the valleys and mountains 16-26 percent with good overnight recoveries at least 35 percent in the mountains and over 45 percent in the valleys for the week.
