SYNOPSIS
Above average high temperatures early this week will cool to below average during the latter half of the week into next week. Night and morning coastal low clouds will spread farther into the valleys during the latter half of the week as the marine layer slowly deepens.

DISCUSSION
FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES...

.SHORT TERM (Today through Wednesday)...
Through Tuesday, high temperatures will remain a few degrees above average near the coast to 5 to 10 degrees above average for the deserts. A cooling trend will begin on Wednesday with high temperatures cooling a few degrees.

High temperatures through Tuesday will range from the lower to mid 70s near the coast to the mid 80s to mid 90s for the Inland Empire with 108 to 112 for the lower deserts. High temperatures on Wednesday will range from the lower 70s near the coast to the 80s and lower 90s for the Inland Empire with 105 to 110 for the lower deserts.

Night and morning coastal low clouds will spread into the western valleys at times through Tuesday, then a little farther into the valleys on early Wednesday.

.LONG TERM (Thursday through Sunday)...
A weak low pressure system will develop off the California coast on Thursday, then move slowly eastward and into California on Saturday before beginning to slowly weaken on Sunday.

A gradual cooling trend will continue through Saturday with Saturday high temperatures as much as 5 to 10 degrees below average for the valleys and coastal slopes of the mountains. High temperatures on Saturday will range from around 70 near the coast to the upper 70s to mid 80s for the Inland Empire with 100 to 104 for the lower deserts. High temperatures on Sunday will warm slightly. Night and morning coastal low clouds will spread farther into the valleys as the marine layer slowly deepens into Saturday.

Coast/Western Valleys
Patchy low clouds 1000-1500 ft MSL have formed along the San Diego Co coastline. These will gradually increase in coverage overnight, spreading inland 10-15 miles and north to OC. Patchy vis 0-5SM will be possible in valleys east of I- 15 in SD County and elevated coastal terrain where cigs reach. Low clouds mostly scatter out 15-17Z this morning, but localized patches will intermittently linger along the immediate coast. Low clouds with similar bases will move inland again after 03Z, though like this evening clouds will be patchy and intermittent.

Mountains/Deserts...VFR conditions are expected through the TAF period with periods of mid level clouds AOA 15000ft MSL. Breezy winds expected over the desert slopes and through the San Gorgonio Pass into the Coachella Valley Mon afternoon and evening, with local gusts 25-30 kt.

MARINE
Villafane No hazardous marine conditions are expected through Thursday.

BEACHES
Elevated surf and strong rip currents continue at area beaches through Friday. Surf of 3-6 feet and sets to 7 feet are expected at south-facing beaches. Surf for southern San Diego County will be slightly lower but hazardous swimming conditions with high rip current and longshore current risk will still exist.
