KEY MESSAGES

- A stray shower is possible across north Georgia this evening, but most will remain dry through the weekend.

- Warming temperatures expected through the middle of next week.

SHORT TERM
(This afternoon through Thursday)
Issued at 238 PM EDT Wed May 13 2026

Generally dry conditions expected through Thursday under the influence of northwesterly flow at the mid-levels and advancing high pressure at the surface. Expect highs in the mid-70s to lower 80s this afternoon under mostly sunny skies.

A cold front will sweep southeastward across the state this evening, bringing with it scant chances for isolated showers for far north Georgia. Available moisture is low (PWATs of three-quarters of an inch to an inch), and most -- if not all -- locations will remain rain-free.

Behind the front, a much drier airmass will settle in, lingering through the remainder of the week. Thursday will be breezy and clear, and the current relative humidity forecast puts us right on the cusp of critical thresholds for portions of eastern Georgia.
Will need to monitor the potential need for a Fire Danger Statement tomorrow. Temperatures will be cooler as the post-frontal airmass filters in (especially so for areas along and north of I-85): with morning lows in the 50s, and highs in the lower 70s to lower 80s.

LONG TERM
(Friday morning through next Tuesday)
Issued at 238 PM EDT Wed May 13 2026

Long term will mostly be focused on the dry conditions with warming temperatures into the weekend and next week. Bermuda high settles back into the area into the weekend which will limit any approaching fronts to well north of our area. Shortwave pushes into far north Georgia on Sunday but with a deep layer of dry air, rainfall is not expected to occur. Temperatures will begin to warm as the ridge settles in with highs in the mid to upper 80s across the area each day next week with portions of far southeastern central Georgia potentially reaching near 90 degrees. Lows on the other hand will be where we feel more of the warmer conditions with lows expected to only dip down into the mid to upper 60s most nights. Towards the end of the longterm, there is an indication that a front will push into the area bringing in rainfall but long range models are a bit divided on the timing and strength of this potential front so rain chances are limited at this time. Fire weather may end up being a concern into the weekend with RH values potentially in the 25-30% range but thankfully winds should remain relatively light.

AVIATION
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 734 PM EDT Wed May 13 2026

VFR through TAF period. Some passing mid-level clouds may accompany the frontal passage across Georgia tonight, otherwise mostly SKC conditions expected. Winds will continue from NW overnight at 5-10 kts in most TAF locations. Expect gusty winds again tomorrow afternoon, with gusts of 20 kts or slightly higher possible.
