SHORT TERM
(Today through Tuesday)
Issued at 246 AM EST Mon Dec 11 2023
After a very active past 24 hours, surface high pressure and quasi- zonal flow at the mid-levels will be conducive to several clear and dry days in the wake of the cold front. Any lingering gusty winds are expected to drop off by daybreak as the pressure gradient slackens. Highs today will be far cooler, in the mid-40s to lower- 50s areawide -- to put it into perspective, our *lows* on Sunday morning were in the mid-50s to mid-60s! Tuesday appears to be a near- carbon copy of today, with highs just a few degrees warmer (in the 50s to near 60 areawide) as the airmass begins to moderate. Lows will bottom out in the upper-20s to lower-30s through Tuesday morning.

LONG TERM
(Tuesday night through Sunday)
Issued at 246 AM EST Mon Dec 11 2023
The middle of this week will bring us into slightly warmer than seasonal temperatures across the region. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 50s into the weekend. Lows will be around until freezing until the weekend when a warming trend will gradually push in as the zonal flow is established over the southern Appalachians.
As a result, dry air will remain in place for the remainder of the week with minimum RH values falling into the low 40s and upper 30s from Wednesday through the weekend.
An upper level cut off is set to cause it to break down by the end of the weekend, bringing the next round of unsettled weather. The GFS and the Euro still differ on timing and location of the low and the impacts to the CWA but showers and thunderstorms will likely return to the CWA late this weekend.
