KEY MESSAGES

- Seasonal temperatures and dry conditions continue through the week ahead.

DISCUSSION

Morning mid-level stratus intrusions across portions of the Sacramento Valley has helped keep temperatures cool to start the work week. Stratus will continue to burn away as we move through the remainder of the early afternoon hours, allowing high temperatures to climb into the low to upper 90s for the Valley; warmest temperatures in the northern Sacramento Valley. Synoptic analysis reveals high pressure aloft in south CONUS with offshore troughing in the Pacific. This pattern will continue to allow seasonable high temperatures across NorCal, along with onshore flow easing overnight and early morning temperatures. Ridge in the south is forecast to retrograde, drifting slightly west allowing for moderation in high temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday, but only by 3 to 6 degrees with Minor HeatRisk.

Thursday, Pacific low is forecast to dig closer to shore while the upper level ridge moves into the Four Corners region. Onshore flow will slightly increase, along with slight lowering of high temperatures. Shortwave trough will eject from Pacific parent low Friday, moving across the PacNW. While early ensemble runs keep shortwave energy fairly dry, we could see a period of breezy west winds across the Burney Basin on Friday. While humidity values are expected to be in the mid to upper 20s during that time, will need to monitor humidity trends for any elevated fire weather concerns, but at this time no immediate concerns are present.

AVIATION

VFR conditions to prevail across interior NorCal next 24 hours.
Surface winds below 15 kts, except in Delta vicinity later around 01z through 17z Tuesday where surface gusts up to 25 kts possible.
Northern Sacramento Valley surface wind gusts from the south up to 20 kts through 03z Tuesday. Terrain driven winds in mountains with gusts up to 20 kts.

STO WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES
None.
