Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Seattle WA 856 PM PDT Fri Apr 17 2026
SYNOPSIS
Weak high pressure building over the area for drier and cooler conditions into Saturday. A weak front will clip the area on Sunday but most of the area will remain dry with warmer temperatures. Warm conditions continue through early next week.
SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/
High clouds continue to move overhead of western Washington as an upper level low approaches well offshore. Dry conditions continue into Saturday. No major forecast updates this evening, previous discussion below.
Upper ridging offshore will help conditions remain quiet and calm this afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds. High temperatures this afternoon will generally range in the mid to upper 50s for locations along the interior, while areas along the coast could see temperatures in the low to mid 50s. As for overnight temperatures, we're looking at lows in the mid to upper 30s, even lower 40s in some spots. With cloud cover remaining throughout the overnight, not seeing much in terms of frost potential, with minimal impacts expected due to overall warmer temperatures.
High temperatures on Saturday will warm considerably, with temperatures in the upper 60s, with some locations possibly seeing temps in the low 70s. Overnight lows will be warmer than previous nights, with lows in the mid to upper 40s.
An upper level low will dig along the coast on Sunday but latest guidance shows it shifting southward and grazing our waters. A weak front will clip our coastal waters but overall Western Washington should stay relatively dry with high temperatures still in the upper 60s into lower 70s.
LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/
The aforementioned upper level low will make its way inland along the Oregon coast with a chance for some wrap-around moisture Monday into Tuesday. We'll see Minor HeatRisk across interior locations on Monday with high temperatures in the low to mid 70s for some interior locations - areas along the water will see temps in the mid 60s.
Ensemble guidance shows renewed precipitation chances midweek as wrap around moisture brings continued showers across the region, with a cool down to normal temperatures in the upper 50s to 60s.
