KEY MESSAGES
- Warm and humid Sunday and Monday
- Chances for showers and thunderstorm Tuesday through Friday
SHORT TERM
(Tonight through Sunday night)
Issued at 130 PM CDT Sat May 30 2026
A low amplitude upper level ridge is over TX today with flow from the west-southwest. Low level flow is from the south to southwest.
The airmass over South-Central Texas remains warm and moist.
Temperatures across our CWA were in the low to mid 80s and dewpoints from the mid 60s to the mid 70s. The upper ridge will move slowly across the state through the short term period. This should suppress any convection and keep the weather dry. The airmass will remain warm and moist. Overnight lows tonight and tomorrow night will be from the upper 60s to middle 70s. Highs on Sunday will be from the upper 80s to middle 90s.
LONG TERM
(Monday through next Saturday)
Issued at 130 PM CDT Sat May 30 2026
The ridge will hold on for one more day Monday keeping the weather dry. Tuesday the ridge will begin to break down. Deeper moisture will surge into the region increasing PW values. The increased moisture and the weakening subsidence will allow showers and thunderstorms to form during the afternoon and evening starting Tuesday and then each afternoon and evening through Friday. This pattern is looking very summer-like. It should be ordinary convection with only moderate rainfall and wind gusts.
AVIATION
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 614 PM CDT Sat May 30 2026
Thick cirrus canopy with some vertical development mainly above FL150 will continue moving east through 09Z, but TS is not expected with drier air beneath. Another spread of MVFR/IFR CIGs is likely overnight, mainly at KSAT/KSSF. Confidence is increasing in low clouds reaching KAUS, and CIGs may be introduced in subsequent TAFs potentially 12Z-15Z. Conditions improve late morning with clearing skies. Broad 5 to 10 kt south to southeast flow continues, with gustier conditions returning to KDRT in the afternoon.
