Marine Weather and Tide Forecast for Flowing Wells, AZ

DISCUSSION
The unprecedented east wind event with widely scattered gusts between 55 and 80 mph continues this morning.
Tucson airport recorded its highest wind gust for this event of 66 mph at 115 am. Mt. Hopkins (7120' Santa Rita Mtns) continues to see the highest gusts of 70+ mph. Yesterday Mt Hopkins 24 hour average was 38 mph sustained and 63 mph gusts. Tucson yesterday unofficially set a record daily average wind speed of 24.4 mph. High Wind Warning in effect until 5 am as models suggest winds weakening below criteria. I'm not so sure. Will continue to monitor over the next several hours in case I have to extend the Warning a few more hours. Otherwise Wind Advisory most areas until 2 pm today.

The other story today into Sunday will be precipitation chances associated with the upper low off northern Baja this morning.
This upper low continues to pull in moisture from the south with regional radars this morning showing scattered south across western Pima county west through Yuma county and south into the northern Gulf of CA. Scattered showers will remain across wrn half of Pima county until this afternoon before expanding east late this afternoon into this evening as the upper low starts to lift NE toward AZ. Can't rule out an isolated thunderstorms.
Rainfall totals this weekend mostly less than 0.25".

A slow moving Pacific upper level trof will keep unsettled conditions next week with daily chances of showers (20-50 percent) each day. Daily high temperatures will remain below normal for much of the next 7 days.

AVIATION

Very strong E SFC winds cont to be the main story. SFC winds ELY/SELY 25-40 kts with gusts 45-60 kts slowly decreasing aft 17/18z. SCT-BKN clouds 10-12k ft AGL. Isold -SHRA W of KTUS until 17/21z, then expanding E in areal coverage thru the end of valid pd. Aviation discussion not updated for TAF amendments.

FIRE WEATHER
Temperatures will remain below normal through this weekend. Very strong east to southeast winds continue today into Saturday. These winds are expected to be especially strong and potentially damaging. Locations on the lee-side of the higher terrain, terrain gaps, and east-to-west oriented valleys will be susceptible to the strongest winds this morning. For these areas expect speeds 35-45 mph with gusts 55-75 mph this evening and tonight, then 25-35 mph with gusts 50-60 elsewhere.
Minimum relative humidity remains above 25-40 percent through the weekend. There will also be a 20-50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday into next week.
