KEY MESSAGES
Issued at 212 AM CDT Mon Aug 3 2026
-Relatively cooler and and less humid conditions expected to continue into Monday.
-Temperatures and humidity will increase into next week...with heat headlines possible by late next week.
-Rain chances remain low through the middle of this week, with PoPs increasing by the end of this week and into the weekend.
DISCUSSION
Issued at 147 AM CDT Mon Aug 3 2026
To begin the period, AR is sandwiched between an upper level trough to the northeast and a strong upper level ridge to the west. This will continue to bring mild and somewhat cooler conditions to the state Monday with a much needed break from the hot temperatures as of late. With that said, the pattern will begin to break down over the next few days as the next heat wave moves in later this week.
As the pattern breaks down, the ridge out west will slowly expand back keeping Arkansas in eastern side of the ridge early in the week before completely dominating the pattern by late in the week.
This will slowly increase temperatures and humidity across the state through the workweek. Expect cooler temperatures early in the period before hot temperatures return late in the week into next week. Heat headlines will likely be needed by Thursday and Friday afternoons.
