New AVIATION
SHORT TERM
(Today through Thursday)
Issued at 1253 AM CDT Wed Sep 18 2024
Low pressure continues to swirl over the western Carolinas bringing some cloud cover to the area. In addition, some fog is being observed over the plateau. This will continue through the early morning hours. A sprinkle cannot be ruled out along the plateau today, but for the most part it will be a dry day with highs west of the plateau a degree or two warmer than Monday. For those along the plateau, it will be markedly warmer given Monday was rather cool. Some patchy fog will be possible again tonight for the entire area.
Ridging will begin building into the area from the south and west on Thursday and temperatures will respond accordingly. A couple locations may hit 90 degrees but for the most part, we'll be in the mid to upper 80s.
LONG TERM
(Thursday Night through next Wednesday)
Issued at 1253 AM CDT Wed Sep 18 2024
Ridging continues to strengthen on Friday and maintain itself through the weekend. A few mid 90 degree readings will be possible especially on Saturday. The ridging will flatten out as we go into next week which may allow for a couple isolated storms on Monday and Tuesday along with highs in the 80s instead of 90s. As far as organized rain chances, it may be until at least mid next week before we see some better chances.
