Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Burlington VT 736 AM EDT Wed Sep 11 2024
SYNOPSIS
High pressure will remain in control of our weather through the next several days, bringing above normal temperatures and plenty of sunshine.
NEAR TERM /THROUGH THURSDAY/
As of 721 AM EDT Wednesday...It's a chilly start this morning with temperatures in the 40s across the region, and KSLK reaching 36F. No changes were made to the forecast with this update, with mostly sunny skies expected for today.
Previous Discussion...Surface high pressure and upper level ridging across the Northeast continue to bring a stretch of dry and pleasant weather to the region along with plentiful sunshine. High temperatures this afternoon will be a few degrees above normal, climbing into the mid and upper 70s. Some increased cloud cover can be expected as a weak shortwave pushes overhead Wednesday night into Thursday, but some mostly clear skies can still be expected.
Although there may be some cloud cover, some fog development will be possible in some of the favored river valleys with calm winds, especially in any spots that remain clear. Overnight low temperatures will be seasonable, in the mid 40s to mid 50s. More of the same can be expected for Thursday, with temperatures a few degrees warmer.
SHORT TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/
As of 419 AM EDT Wednesday...Thursday night and Friday will feature fairly quiet weather with temperatures beginning to trend above seasonal normals. Some upper level shortwave energy means that we will have non zero PoPs. Just a chance of some spotty showers, though leaning towards idea that we won't see much with this feature. Only have slight chance of showers mentioned. We will also see some overnight fog development in areas that happen to clear.
LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/
As of 419 AM EDT Wednesday...Friday night through Wednesday will feature more dry weather with temperatures continuing to be about 10 degrees above seasonal normals. Surface and upper level ridges will be in place across the region through the entirety of the period.
There continues to be no significant chances for precipitation through the entire 8 day forecast period.
AVIATION /12Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/
Through 12Z Thursday...Outside of some very patchy fog at KSLK and KMPV which should dissipate over the next hour or so, VFR conditions will prevail for most of the forecast period. Skies will be mostly clear throughout the day, with light winds generally less than 10 knots this afternoon. Winds will become light and variable after 00Z.
Outlook...
Thursday: VFR. NO SIG WX.
Thursday Night: VFR. NO SIG WX.
Friday: VFR. Slight chance SHRA.
Friday Night: VFR. NO SIG WX.
Saturday: VFR. NO SIG WX.
Saturday Night: VFR. NO SIG WX.
